    Epidermoid Cyst of Spleen

    Get PDF
Splenic cysts are very rare lesions, most of them being parasitic systs. Nonparasitic cysts are uncommon. We report a case of young female who presented with mass and pain abdomen. Ultrasound examination revealed splenic syst. The diagnosis of epidermoid cyst was made based on characteristic lining on histopathological examinatio

An Unusual Melanocytic Nevus of Conjunctiva : Balloon Cell Nevus

    Get PDF
Melanocytic nevi are one of the most common benign tumors of the conjunctiva. The balloon cell nevus is a rare and unusual variant of nevus of melanocytic origin, in which more than 50% of the tumor is composed of large polygonal cells with small nucleus and a clear to vacuolated cytoplasm. We describe a case of balloon cell nevus in a 6-year-old child who presented with pigmented lesion of the right eye since birth. The melanocytic nature of these cells was confirmed by immunohistochemical study. Excision of the tumor results in cure. This report describes a rare balloon cell nevus of conjunctiva which to the best of our knowledge is not documented in Indian literature

    Olfactory Neuroblastoma: Diagnostic Difficulty

    Get PDF
Olfactory neuroblastoma is an uncommon malignant tumor of sinonasal tract arising from the olfactory neuro epithelium. The olfactory neuroblastomas presenting with divergent histomorphologies like, epithelial appearance of cells, lacking a neuro fibrillary background and absence of rosettes are difficult to diagnose. Such cases require immunohistochemistry to establish the diagnosis. We describe the clinical features, pathological and immunohistochemical findings of grade IV Olfactory neuroblastoma in a 57 year old ma

Emperipolesis in a Case of Adult T Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (Mediastinal type)-Detected at FNAC and Imprint Cytology

    Get PDF
Emperipolesis is a condition in which viable hematopoetic cells are seen intact in the cytoplasm of host cell without damage. This phenomenon is seen in many physiologic and pathologic conditions, its presence in Rosai Dorfman disease (RDD) is characteristic of the disease. However emperipolesis is an uncommon finding in malignant lymphoma both Hodgkins and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, wherein it has been described in bone marrow aspirate and tissue culture. In contrast there are only two case reports of emperipolesis phenomenon described in non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in tissue sections. We report a case of an adult T cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (mediastinal type) with features of emperipolesis demonstrated at fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and imprint cytology of cervical lymph nodes. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of emperipolesis in a case of adult T cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (mediastinal type)-detected at FNAC and imprint cytology

    Multiple Choriangiomas of Placenta

Placental chorangiomas, not an uncommon condition is often small and hence usually goes unnoticed . However the incidence of complications is high when the chorangioma is large. We hereby present an unusual case of large and multiple choriangiomas with secondary changes and associated congenital anomalies with hydrops fetalis

    Clinico-epidemiological study of stasis eczema

Background: This study was done to determine the epidemiological aspects of stasis eczema and the association of various risk factors of the disease in the local population. Methods: This cross-sectional study was done at a tertiary hospital in southern India over a period of 1 year. Epidemiological and clinical data of stasis dermatitis patients above 20 years of age were recorded. Data was tabulated and analyzed using Microsoft excel software. Results: Of the study population of 120 prevalence is found to be highest in the age group of 50 to 60 years (42.5%) and males are more commonly affected. Occupation involving prolonged standing or sitting and lack of exercise activity is found to be a significant risk factor. The commonest skin finding in present study is eczema (80%). The most common complication was ulcer which was seen in 12.5% of our patients. Reticular veins are the most common dilated veins seen in our patients. About 70% of patients in present study fall under C4a stage of CEAP classification. About one half of symptomatic patients in present study (53.3%) had no radiological evidence of incompetent veins. Among patients with valvular incompetence, perforator veins were most commonly found to be incompetent (62.5%) followed by involvement of the saphenous venous system (23.2%).Conclusions: The study confirms the importance of environmental factors in the development of stasis eczema. There is a ten-fold higher prevalence of the disease in men in our population compared to previous studies which invariably reports a female preponderance

A case of synovial lipomatosis with chronic synovitis presenting as acute knee pain

    Get PDF
Background: Synovial lipomatosis is a rare, benign, intra-articular lipoma-like lesion characterized by villous proliferation of the synovium, most commonly affecting the knee joint. The usual presentation is long standing progressive swelling of the affected joint, with or without pain and restriction of movements. Histopathology is confirmatory. Case Report: We present the case of a 35- year old male patient with long standing history of swelling, short history of pain in the left knee joint. X-Ray and magnetic resonance imaging scans of the left knee showed the characteristic features of synovial lipomatosis with chronic synovitis. The patient underwent diagnostic arthroscopy with lavage of left knee joint. Histopathological study confirmed synovial lipomatosis with chronic synovitis. Conclusion: Synovial lipomatosis is a rare, benign, intra-articular lipoma-like lesion. Although rare, clinically it should be considered as an important differential in evaluating neoplastic and non- neoplastic conditions of the knee joint

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma of eyelid – An unusual site: a case report

    Get PDF
Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is predominantly a malignancy of the major salivary glands (10-30%) and minor salivary glands (15%).These tumours are also reported in lacrimal glands, conjunctiva, and nasopharynx, though rarely. The average age at presentation is between 20 to 60 years with a female preponderance. Owing to the rarity, it mandates an early diagnosis to facilitate appropriate patient management. This case report highlights the unusual occurrence of primary mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the eyelid in a 33 year old male patient

A Novel Approach for Integrated Shortest Path Finding Algorithm (ISPSA) Using Mesh Topologies and Networks-on-Chip (NOC)

A novel data dispatching or communication technique based on circulating networks of any network IP is suggested for multi data transmission in multiprocessor systems using Networks-On-Chip (NoC). In wireless communication network management have some negatives have heavy data losses and traffic of data sending data while packet scheduling and low performance in the varied network due to workloads. To overcome the drawbacks, in this method proposed system is Integrated Shortest Path Search Algorithm (ISPSA) using mesh topologies. The message is sent to IP (Internet Protocol) in the network until the specified bus accepts it. Integrated Shortest Path Search Algorithm for communication between two nodes is possible at any one moment. On-chip wireless communications operating at specific frequencies are the most capable option for overcoming metal interconnects multi-hop delay and excessive power consumption in Network-on-Chip (NoC) devices. Each node can be indicated by a pair of coordinates (level, position), where the level is the tree's vertical level and the view point is its horizontal arrangement in the sequence of left to right. The output gateway node's n nodes are linked to two nodes in the following level, with all resource nodes located at the bottommost vertical level and the constraint of this topology is its narrow bisection area. The software Xilinx 14.5 tool by using that overall performance analysis of mesh topology, each method are reduced data losses with better accuracy although the productivity of the delay is decreased by 21 % was evaluated and calculated.
